Faith & Science

The evidence.

Science didn’t bury God. The deeper it digs, the more design it finds. Here are the researchers, the scientists and the founders. Read it for yourself and decide.

Start here.

Is the Bible real? Is Genesis history? Does it line up with modern science? If you’re asking any of that, this is the place to start. Is Genesis History? sits down with scientists and scholars, from rock layers to fossils to the stars, and puts Genesis side by side with what they find.

Creation vs. Evolution

Where did everything come from? Christians who agree that God is the Creator still land in different camps on how He did it. Each card is labeled so you know exactly where it’s coming from.

Young-earth creation

Answers in Genesis

Takes Genesis as literal history and goes point by point through the big evolution claims, from fossils to DNA.

Young-earth creation

Institute for Creation Research

Scientists with PhDs in geology, biology and physics doing their own research from a biblical starting point.

Intelligent design

Discovery Institute

Makes the case from the evidence itself: the information in DNA and the fine-tuning of the universe point to a designer.

Evolutionary creation

BioLogos

Founded by Francis Collins. Holds that God created through the processes science describes, with Scripture as fully trustworthy.

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

Romans 1:20 (NASB)

Age of the Earth

Thousands of years or billions? Bible-believing scientists make strong cases on both sides. Same Creator, different timelines. Look at both and dig in.

Intelligent design (Discovery Institute) focuses on evidence of design and doesn’t take a position on the age of the earth.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:1 (NASB)

Scientists who believed

The idea that you have to pick between science and God is new. Many of the people who built modern science did their work because they believed in a Creator who made an orderly universe.

1571–1630

Johannes Kepler

Astronomy

Cracked the laws of planetary motion and saw his work as a Christian duty to understand the works of God.

Blaise Pascal

Math & physics

Laid the foundation of probability theory, then wrote the Pensées, one of the great defenses of the Christian faith.

Robert Boyle

Chemistry

The “father of chemistry” and a devout Anglican who saw studying nature as studying God’s handiwork.

Isaac Newton

Physics

Gravity, calculus, optics. He put as much effort into theology and Bible study as into math and physics.

Electromagnetism

Discovered electromagnetic induction. His Christian faith was the single biggest influence on how he read nature.

Genetics

The father of genetics ran his famous pea experiments as an Augustinian friar and later became abbot.

Germ theory, vaccines, pasteurization. His son-in-law wrote that absolute faith in God and eternity pervaded his whole life.

Faith of the Founders

America has deep Christian roots, from the Pilgrims to the Declaration. The founders didn’t all hold the same theology. Some, like Jefferson and Franklin, leaned toward a more general faith in Providence. But God shows up all over their own words. Don’t take our word for it. Read theirs.
